How We Helped Marathon Swimmer Share Her Inspiring Messages

I have been an open water swimmer for many years. As I swim leisurely – 2-3 km, sometimes 4—there are marathon swimmers who swim for hours on end, achieving the unthinkable.
One of them is Avishag Turek, who has broken Israeli records in extreme open-water challenges.
She completed the Triple Crown — swimming across the English Channel between Britain and France, circling Manhattan, and crossing the Catalina Channel in the U.S. She even conquered the brutal Ice Mile — just one mile, but in freezing, near-ice water. (Don’t try this at home).

For those unfamiliar with this world, these swims require much more than just a swimsuit, goggles, and sunscreen. They demand a whole support team.
Avishag swims because she loves the ocean. She loves the boundless power of the sea, stretching endlessly from horizon to horizon. For her, the word “impossible” doesn’t exist. Is it hard? Absolutely! Try swimming for 10 hours straight without a break. But when you’re doing something you love, and you connect with that feeling of infinite freedom in a place where you can just be yourself, without judgment—there’s nothing you can’t do. Anyone can do it!

So, why is Avishag, a lover of the sea and extreme challenges, featured on a translation company’s blog?
Avishag is a woman of many talents. She also paints beautiful watercolor scenes—mostly of the sea, swimming, and nature. She turned her paintings into inspiration cards. After the cards were created and released in Hebrew, Avishag asked me to translate them into English.
“I decided to translate this project into English because the world I’m addressing doesn’t speak Hebrew. Mikhal did an amazing job with the translation, and my message is: Don’t limit yourselves. Translate your content into various languages. Go out into the world.” – Avishag Turek

When I traveled to Tokyo for a BNI conference (an international networking organization I belong to), I suggested to Avishag that we try marketing the cards to the businesspeople I’d meet there. In Tokyo, I connected with a local company that produces inspiration cards. In addition, I handed out one as a gift to everyone I met. As the saying goes: Cast your cards upon the waters…
